Ashby Show first started in 1904 at the Bath Grounds at Ashby de la Zouch, behind the Royal Hotel. There was a break during some of the First & Second World War years when the Ashby Show was not held.
As it grew in size it moved to the beautiful site at Calke Park and when it again got too big it moved to Measham Lodge Farm.
After a very successful and popular move, Ashby Show will be again held at Cattows Farm, Normanton Lane, Heather, Coalville, Leics, LE67 2TD. This is by kind permission of Mr & Mrs A Ludlam and we are very grateful to all the help and support they and their son, James, gives to the Committee with all the preparations in the run-up to the Show.
The event is planned throughout the year and our next show will take place on Sunday, 9th July 2023. It has become one of the highlights of the summer and has a packed programme of events and attractions to suit all ages.
We would like to welcome John Dumelow as our Show President for 2022. John has been involved in farming all his life until he retired eight years ago. He has been connected with Ashby Show for sixty years, starting as a Young Farmers' representative before joining the Council a few years later. He was the main ring commentator for a few years before the late Sylvia Williams took over (who John said did a much better job!). He was also an early morning steward on the trade stand gate for many years and carried on doing this when the show moved to Cattows Farm for two years before he finally retired.
